The STORY OF
LANEY & LU
We create real food and drink that nourishes your body, feeds the soul, and inspires community.
We work with over a dozen local farms and merchants, many of whom are organic. By using cover crops and other ecological farming practices, these farmers build up soil and the plants’ own biological systems. When you eat at LANEY & LU, you participate in this important movement, which aims to grow better food and preserve the Earth.
Our menu features locally sourced ingredients that have been harvested and sold to us at peak freshness. What this means for you is that you are getting the absolute freshest, most nutrient-dense food possible.
Our superfoods, spices, coffee, and herbs for teas are organic, fair trade, non-irradiated, and sourced from the highest quality sources in order to ensure peak freshness, nutrient-density, and quality.
Our dairy and eggs are organic, and free of antibiotics and hormones. Our cow's milk, cheddar cheese, and butter are sourced from local farms and always grass-fed.
We have a ZERO WASTE COMMITMENT to protecting our amazing planet and her resources by doing our part to minimize our footprint. All of our packaging is 100% compostable. AND, if that wasn’t good enough - you can bring all of your packaging back to LANEY & LU and we will compost it for you!
All of our food waste is composted with Mr. Fox Composting service where it is converted into nutrient dense compost soil.
Our cleaning and sanitizing agents are Green Seal Certified. Paper supplies are made from 100% recycled materials.
Thoughtful design and material selection in our cafe includes zero-VOC paint, natural wood finishes, reclaimed wood community bench and shelving, concrete and recycled surfaces, and environmentally friendly flooring.
We are an active contributor in the greater Seacoast community. Not only do we source local food, we also promote businesses whose values align with our own. We are passionate about collaborating with people in meaningful ways.
In 2018, LANEY & LU proudly donated approximately $10,000 to local non-profits including significant contributions to Seacoast SATYA, The Chase Home For Children, Southeast Land Trust of NH, and Womenade of Greater Squamscott.
